Sushiro Lands at 1 Utama with Sub-RM6 Premium Sushi
Japan's largest conveyor-belt sushi chain opened its second Malaysian outlet at 1 Utama Shopping Centre on 10 July 2026, and the grand opening promotion runs through 4 August 2026. The draw is simple: premium cuts that normally cost double digits are going for RM5.80 a plate, split across two promotional windows. Sushiro also picked up a Malaysia Book of Records title for "Most Variety of Sushi in a Restaurant" to mark the launch.
What's on the RM5.80 menu
The promo is split into two phases, which matters if you have a specific cut in mind. From 10 to 26 July, the headline items are Ootoro (the fatty tuna belly that usually sells at a premium) and Thick Cut Grilled Eel. From 27 July to 4 August, the spotlight shifts to Fresh Thick Cut Salmon. All three are priced at RM5.80 per plate, a price point that essentially does not exist for these cuts in the Klang Valley outside of an opening push.
The chain is also running up to RM20 in dining vouchers during the campaign period. These stack with the promotional plates, so a return visit costs less than the first.
Beyond the promo plates
The Book of Records nod reflects the breadth of the regular menu, which runs past 100 selections across Nigiri, Gunkan, Sashimi and side categories. Beyond the headline promo plates, the standard lineup includes Ikura Mountain Tsutsumi (RM10.80), Mountain Bincho Maguro (RM7.80), Grilled Eel with Utsumi, Fried Jumbo Shrimp, Fried Monkfish, and a Peach Panna Cotta (RM10.80) for dessert. Sides extend to tempura, ramen and udon, so the outlet works for a group where not everyone wants raw fish.
For PJ diners specifically, the 1 Utama outlet shortens the drive for anyone in Bandar Utama, Damansara Perdana, TTDI or Kota Damansara. Sushiro's first Malaysian outlet was in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur; the second in 1 Utama confirms the chain is moving west into the PJ catchment, with a Sunway outlet also reportedly on the cards. Conveyor-belt sushi in PJ already has competitors, but few are putting Ootoro at RM5.80.
The free tote bag, and why it will run out
Spend RM30 in a single receipt and you get a limited-edition Sushiro 1 Utama tote bag. The catch: only the first 2,000 customers qualify, one per receipt, first come first served. Based on the crowds that turned up for the 10 July opening, those 2,000 will not last the full campaign. If the tote is the reason you are going, go early on a weekday.
The new outlet is at Lot G343A, Ground Floor Rainforest (New Wing), open daily 10am to 10pm. Touchscreen ordering at every table is standard, and an IC chip under each plate helps the kitchen track freshness and popularity. The chain runs over 900 stores globally and positions itself on freshness, value, and the novelty of the conveyor belt for families.
