Cafe Conti at Seksyen 17: Hotel Breakfast Without the Staycation
Cafe Conti opened in July 2026 on Jalan 17/56 in Seksyen 17, Petaling Jaya, and it does one thing that most cafes in PJ do not: it serves a hotel-style continental breakfast without making you check in. The concept is the daytime operation of the team behind Manisan Dessert Club, and the menu is built around the morning tray, not the brunch plate. The catch is that it is a weekend-only room. Hours run Saturday and Sunday, 8.00am to 1.00pm, and the kitchen stops when the items for the day sell out.

The menu is a mix-and-match setup, not a plated dish. You assemble a tray from a list of staples. The lineup includes pancakes with maple syrup, chicken-ham-and-cheese eggy toast, nutty cereals, oatmeal with extra virgin olive oil, crumpets, sunny-side-up eggs, sausages, thick hash browns, mushrooms, soft-boiled eggs, Edam cheese, butter and jam, batch-brew coffee, and orange or camomile juice. The pancakes, the crabby eggs benedict and the English breakfast have become the early crowd favourites.
Pricing lands in the RM20 to RM40 range per dish, depending on how many items you stack on the tray. The pitch is that this is the kind of breakfast you would normally only eat on a staycation, served at neighbourhood prices, on a corner lot in Section 17. The room is small, the seating is comfortable, and the speed of service works because the menu is short.
Why the hours are what they are
Opening only Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 1pm, is a deliberate choice. The team behind Cafe Conti also runs Manisan Dessert Club, which operates in the evening. Running the breakfast room as a weekend-only pop-up inside the same space lets them serve two dayparts from one kitchen. The trade-off for diners is the queue. Weekends between 9am and 11am are the busy window. Arrive at 8am for the calmest service and the freshest items.

Seksyen 17 is one of the older PJ residential neighbourhoods, walkable from the Taman Jaya and Asia Jaya LRT stations if you do not mind a 15-minute stroll, and easy to reach by car from Sections 14, 16 and 19. Parking on Jalan 17/56 itself is limited; the side lanes off Jalan 17/1A are usually the safer bet on a weekend morning.
