The 36th PJ Half Marathon is Sunday, 6 September 2026, flagged off from Laman MBPJ. Tourism Malaysia and the RaceXasia entry both put the field at a 10,000-runner target, with more than 260 foreign runners from 34 countries already in the mix when MBPJ posted in August. This is the city's oldest mass run, not a new fun-run brand. If you live along the closed roads, the useful fact is the start times, not the slogan.
Flag-off times, because 3.30am is real
Official times from the RaceXasia registration page:
- 30km: 3.30am, 5-hour cutoff
- 21km: 3.45am, 4-hour cutoff
- 10km: 7.00am, 2-hour cutoff
- 5km: 7.15am, 1-hour cutoff
Organisers are Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya and Puncak Ventures, with Persatuan Olahraga Para Selangor as co-organiser. That last name is not decoration. Expect para categories and a course that has to work for more than club runners in carbon plates. Registration is closed. The last public extension was a 200-slot bump per category through mid-August, then a final 11.59pm call. If you are not in the system, you are not running. Spectating is still a PJ morning: Laman MBPJ, the civic lawn in front of the council, fills with families by 7am for the shorter waves.
Race kit is at Jaya Shopping Centre, 3 to 5 September
Race kit collection is 3 to 5 September 2026 at Jaya Shopping Centre, not at Laman MBPJ on the morning. Courier is offered on the RaceXasia form if you cannot queue. Bring the confirmation and IC. Jaya Shopping Centre sits in Section 14, a different part of PJ from the council lawn. Do not mix it up with Jaya One. Parking at Jaya will be worse than usual those three days. Grab is saner.
Each runner gets an event tee and bib. Finisher medals are the usual Facebook flex. Fees already paid range from the old super-early RM95 Malaysian 30km up to RM265 for late international 30km, plus admin fees. That window is gone. What remains for residents is road discipline: the 30km wave is on the roads before dawn. If you drive through central PJ on Saturday night into Sunday, expect cones earlier than you like.
What else is on in PJ that month
Sunway Pyramid's Malaysia in Motion national-month programme runs 21 August to 20 September: Pos Malaysia postcards, a kids' mission sheet, a "We Love Malaysia" wall, and a Wau redemption lucky draw. On 26 September, IN2IT marks 25 years at Orange Concourse, LG2, with WayV's Hendery as guest from 2pm to 5pm. Contest entries for that meet-and-greet close 23 September. Neither clashes with the 6 September run unless you try to do a 30km and a mall photo-op the same morning. You will not.
Laman MBPJ is on Jalan Yong Shook Lin, next to the civic centre. LRT Taman Jaya is the old walking option. The newer LRT3 stations help if you are coming from Shah Alam, not if you are coming from Damansara. For a 3.30am start, sleep in PJ or do not sleep.
